2nd Annual MCPS-MCCPTA Mental Health and Wellness Forum, Jan 12, 2019, 1-5 pm, Wood MS

Mr. Wiebe asked that we share this important information to the Wyngate Community.

Dear MCPS Principals,

Last year we organized the first MCPS-MCCPTA Mental Health and Wellness Forum on April 22, 2018. This school year, rather than compete with the sun on a glorious spring day, we have brought our annual event to the winter, specifically to Saturday, January 12, 1-5 pm at Wood Middle School, 14615 Bauer Drive, Rockville, MD 20853.

As you know, the impact of mental health and wellness challenges is not limited to select families. Not acknowledging and addressing the challenges impairs learning now and life prospects later. Not talking about them stigmatizes the conditions and becomes a source of stress itself. Mental health challenges from undue stress to more significant conditions pose risks to the general well-being of our families. I know you too believe it is important. We just need to articulate why.

All families, secondary students, elementary students (with guardians), teachers, staff, administrators, and community members are welcome.

I hope you will be able to attend and encourage your staff, students, and families to attend. The online registration form is available at: https://goo.gl/forms/wNYelcS2SEJcs1MB3

I am attaching the pdf and jpg files of the flyer, which can be printed, uploaded, and distributed as you see best. You can forward this email with the flyer to your schools, neighborhoods, and professional communities. Feel free to share on social media and include in your ConnectEd messages. Please pass this information to your school counselors.

We will offer free Mental Health First Aid Training (for adults only) which will run concurrently with the conference. CEUs available. To join the MHFA class, please complete the secondary registration at the end of the google form link above.

Questions? Please ask me.

I wish you peace and happiness for the holidays and the New Year and look forward to seeing you early 2019!
