Dear MCPS Community,
MCPS families, as well as schools and nonprofit agencies that serve children, are invited to pick up free school supplies for students who need them on Monday, July 15 at the 20th annual Drive for Supplies event, to be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the gymnasium at Argyle Middle School.
Each summer, MCPS distributes new and gently used school supplies to Montgomery County families in need. The supplies come from MCPS students and staff who collect and donate items as they clean out lockers, desks and closets at the end of the school year. Last year, MCPS distributed 8,805 pounds of schoolsupplies.
Drive for Supplies has generated more than 95 tons of school supplies since the program began. The program, which benefits children in need and works to protect the environment by repurposing usable items, is a collaboration between Learn Shop, Inc., and MCPS.
A media event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the program will be held at 9 a.m. Families and organizations will be able to pick up supplies immediately following the event.
